How to choose an outfitter

If you are interested in purchasing the services of a licensed outfitter-we offer some guidelines.

1. Research: requesting/obtaining their brochure & relevant information. After reading about their services develop a list of questions and give them a call.

2. Do they offer guarantees: you should be ‘cautious’ if an outfitter offers you a guarantee of bagging an animal or getting you a record book animal. Although many hunters want to hear such a statement, outfitters have no  control over mother nature including migratory animals.

3. How long have they been in operation?  You will more than likely have a better experience with an operator who has been in business for a number of years. An established outfitter will more than likely have a streamline operation with some experience.

4. Check references: ask for references from the past couple of years. Before contacting them be prepared with a list of questions.

5. Staff/Guides: Can make or break a hunt, especially since you spend the majority of time with them. See if you can find profiles of the guides—and determine how long they have been guiding. Are they professionally certified?

6. Price: determine what is included in their package and what is not. Ask about their deposit policy. What extra charges would be incurred?
